Weather update for Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; intermittent rains, gusty winds likely

PESHAWAR – Rains of varying intensities and gusty winds are likely in Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday night and the next two days with occasional gaps.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), strong monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal will likely penetrate upper parts of Pakistan tonight. They will affect central and southern parts of the country from August 02. A westerly wave will likely affect upper parts of the country from tonight.

Under these weather conditions, rains and gusty winds are likely in Peshawar, Swat, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Buner, Kurram and Waziristan on Wednesday night.

On Thursday and Friday, more intermittent rains and gusty winds are likely in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Buner, Bajaur, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Peshawar, Kurram, Kohat, Karak, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Waziristan and Dera Ismail Khan.

Peshawar’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 30-32°C on Thursday and Friday.

Meanwhile, hot and humid weather prevailed in most districts of the province during the last 24 hours. However, rain-wind/thundershowers occurred at isolated places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Bannu remained the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 43°C. In Peshawar, maximum temperature was recorded at 32°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 85 per cent.
