Pakistan suffer a blow ahead of second Test against Australia

MELBOURNE – Pakistan pacer Khurram Shahzad has suffered an injury in what can be dubbed as a major blow to Team Green ahead of the second Test against Australia.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in a statement on Wednesday said Khurram complained of discomfort in his left side during the first Test which took place in Perth.

“Following his complaint, after the Test match, Khurram was sent for an MRI scan,” said the board, adding that further details will be shared in due course after the medical panel assesses the MRI reports.

The second Test is scheduled to be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) from December 26-30.

On Sunday, Pakistan suffered a heavy defeat against Australia at Perth Stadium, in the first game of the three-Test series. After being asked to chase 450 in the fourth innings, Pakistan folded for a measly 89 in 30.2 overs, losing the Perth Test by 360 runs.
