NA to vote on 27th Constitutional Amendment today

ISLAMABAD – The National Assembly is set to convene today (Tuesday) at 11am, where the government will present the 27th Constitutional Amendment Bill for final approval.

Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar will table the amendment bill, which was passed by the Senate a day earlier with a two-thirds majority as per the agenda issued for the National Assembly. The agenda also includes a calling-attention notice and two government bills seeking approval for the establishment of new educational institutions.

On Monday, the Senate approved the 27th Constitutional Amendment Bill with 64 votes in favour and none against, marking a significant step towards its enactment.

Meanwhile, the united opposition alliance has announced a boycott of both the Senate and National Assembly sessions in protest against the amendment, alleging that it undermines parliamentary democracy.
